Meet our pastor: Dr. Thaddyeus W. Thompson, Sr. and First Lady Minister Shirley Thompson
Pastor Thompson was born in Taylor, TX. He moved to Altus, OK at a young age. Pastor Thompson completed his education in Altus and moved to Okmulgee, OK to continue his studies at Oklahoma State University. He later received a BS in Family Mediation, MA in Theology and Doctorate in Biblical Counseling. Prior to coming to 9th Street, Pastor Thompson served as a pastor in Okmulgee for 16 years. In Okmulgee he was involved in the community working in the jail system, serving on various boards, and volunteering in the school system. Pastor Thompson looks forward to this new season at 9th Street and in the Paducah community.
Shirley Thompson was born in Memphis, TN. She completed her education in Tennessee receiving a BS in Business Administration and Masters in Planning. After completing her education, her employment relocated her to Houston, Odessa, Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, and finally Tulsa where she met and married Pastor Thompson. In Okmulgee she served at the church in the music ministry, administration and in leading women ministries. In the community she was one of the coordinators for the annual Martin Luther King celebration and assisted non-profits in grant writing. Minister Shirley looks forward to working at 9th Street serving the church and the community.
The Thompsons have 6 children (1 daughter and 5 sons) - a daughter working in Kansas, City; a son in Saudi Arabia working in Information Technology; a son living in Okmulgee; a son living in Chicago; a son working in Dallas as a basketball coach; and a son working as in Oklahoma City as an Attorney.
